127 Hours

Was a pretty decent film if you like your movies "out of the box".  There are a lot of nature scenes and it gives you a little adrenaline rush to go extreme hiking and exploring.  All in all it was OKAY, there is a scene that gets pretty graphic and makes Saw look like a children's movie.  2 1/2 Apples.

Paranormal Activity 2, a Waste of Time

When I found out there was going to be a second installment of Paranormal Activity, the movie that kept me up at night and made me jump at every creak in my house, I was thrilled...until the first 15 minutes of the movie and I realized it was a dud.  Not only was the movie a FAIL, but it actually took away the fear factor of the first movie and made the premise of the movie seem logical (as logical as a demon attacking a family in their own home can be).  The film is set before and after the first movie which just gets too tricky especially when the original characters are back (SPOILER ALERT one of these characters dies in the original).  The only thing the movie had going for it was the loud noises that made you jump.  The shaky camera work had me nauseous in the first few frames; that came and went throughout the movie.  My recommendation: DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE.  Instead go watch the glory of the first movie again or for the first time and pretend that this addition never occurred.

Movies that will make you jump, keep you up all night, or squirm!

Happy Halloween
Instead of doing the typical "scary movie list", I have broken down some of my favorite scariest movies into categories.  That way you can choose a theme based on your own preference. Please follow the rules below...

RULES: 1) You must watch these movies in the complete dark. 2) For best results sit in the middle of the floor without anything touching your back. 3) Don't sit next to someone so you're touching. 4) Turn the sound up. 4) Turn on your hallway light before going to bed :)

Movies that will make you jump:

The Descent (2006)
The Exorcists (1973)
Ju-on: The Grudge (2002)
It (1990)
28 Days Later (2002)
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Silent Hill (2006)

Movies that will keep you awake at night:

Saw (2004)
The Fourth Kind (2009)
Paranormal Activity (2007)
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
The Strangers (2008)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
Dead Silence (2007)

Movies that will make you squirm:
*****WARNING: The below movies have very gory scenes****

The Hills have Eyes (2006)
Hostel 2 (2007)
Saw 2-6 (2005-2009)
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
Hellraiser (1987)
Audition (1999)
Dead Alive (1992)

Life as we Know It

This is the definition of a romantic/comedy with all of it's predictable splendor. Regardless of the predictability, I still was captured by the story and found myself smiling, laughing and even at times close to crying. The baby (played by Alexis, Brynn, and Brooke Clagett) is adorable and steals scenes from Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel, who play enemies that are bonded by guardianship for their best friends orphaned daughter after a fatal accident. This is a great feel good movie that will leave you with a smile on your face.

Easy A

Let's not and say we did! I was pleasantly surprised by Easy A where Emma Stone plays a character whose life begins to resemble the main character in the assigned reading, "The Scarlet Letter." This was funny, feel good movie with a fun storyline. This is definatly a good movie for a date or even a girl's night out!

4 apples!

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

This was a very well writen movie and the acting was superb. It's a great movie that keeps you intrigued and on your toes. Shia LaBeouf, Jake Moore, has proven himself as a multi-tanlennted actor being able to by an adult drama role amazingly well, which great depth and emotion. Gordan Gekko (Michael Douglas) is back and he isn't going to let prison define him. Greed is Good, and so is Wall Steet!

Inception

Amazing, Exciting, PERFECTION!!! If you have not yet seen this movie, GO SEE IT! If you have seen it, go see again, but in IMAX. The movie reminds me of the feeling I got after seeing Matrix for the first time...only on crack. The storyline is also amazing with many layers. For those who are experienced with twists and turns the storyline is slightly perdictable, but still a great visual experience. Kudos to the whole cast for amazing performances.

Twilght: Eclipse

So there are those that consider me a Twilight hater. This is not true. I read ALL of the books and let me tell you some of them where easier than others to force my way through. Regardless of my personal opion on the casting on the film (Jacob is really the only person that I think has talent and is exactly what I pictured in my head while reading the books) and the quality of the writing, I still very much enjoyed this movie. Please ladies do not drag your unwilling boyfriends to this film. That is just torture. Find a group of girls and make it a girls' night out. That's what a few of my girlfriends and I did (shout out to Anna and Danielle :)) and we had a blast. I would definatly watch this again, but that's my own little guilty pleasure. All in all the film was good. 3 apples.

My Redbox Recap

Hello Faithful followers!
Here is my run down of my recent Redbox endeavors.

Avatar-5 apples! I didn’t know how I was going to feel about this film and was a bit confused to whether or not the first 15 minutes was an advertisement for a different movie or was the movie. But, once it started I was hooked. Great movie!

Alice and Wonderland-3 apples. Yea, wasn’t impressed with this one. The effects were amazing but the storyline was tough to follow and I wasn’t sure until closer to the end if I was watching a continuation of the traditional Alice story, was a remake, or was a different rendition.

Youth in Revolt-2 ½ apples. Save your money, don’t see this one.

Alright, that’s your recap!

Grown Ups

I must say this movie was a delightful little number with an all star cast.  To begin with, I watched this after a long weekend of moving and we're in the mist of month end at work; therefore tensions and stress were high, and this movie is exactly what I needed.  The moral fiber was a bit cheesy however, it did leave me walking away thinking why must a tragic event always cause an awakening of oneself to appreciate the little things?  But back to the movie, there aren't many one liners and those that are there are pretty lame.  But, there is some great slap-stick elements and you can't help but giggle and feel good while you watch this movie.  Not a knee slapper but regardless, 3 Apples!

You all know I'm obsessed

This is as amazing as Sam and Kurt's rendition of "Down" by Jay Sean. You can't help but tap your toes and move in you seat as you listen. Great job guys on another superb performance. Even better news is that they are now on itunes! I know I bought there cd earlier today and am LOVIN' IT!

Shutter Island...not a horror film

I walked into Shutter Island thinking that it was going to be a horror film that made me jump and squirm in my seat.  To my dismay, it was more of a psychological thriller with a storyline that was disappointing, missing the big aha moment at the end.  It's not like I didn't enjoy the film,  I just wanted and expected more.  However, that seems to be my reaction to most Hollywood films in the past year.

I would give this film 2 1/2 Apples.

Sam and Kurt are back!

Some of you may remember Sam's version of "Down" by Jay Shane (If you have not seen this yet you must, it's under my later posts). Well, he's back with his producer Kurt after a little hiatus and have come back with an a capella version of "Fireflies" by Owl City. I personally am not a fan of that song but Sam's rendition is still AMAZING!

Enjoy!

I wish I had a Hot Tub Time Machine so that I could have gone to a differnt movie.

It had been ages since I've gone to a movie theater to see a movie and I was ready to laugh. I figured what better than seeing a "stupid comedy". I could just lay back relax and laugh at the mindless jokes and one-liners that accompany a light storyline. Well, I got what I wished for; only I was expecting more than one one-liner. There were more jokes that I cringed at than found humorous. This is defiantly a redbox saver.

Lost but not forgotten....

Alright I deserve it.  I haven’t updated my loyal followers with the movie reviews you deserve.  All I will say in my defense is A.) My computer is broken and the library has limited hours and B.)I am poor.  I promise to update this with amazing YouTube videos and movie reviews when I get the chance.  But until that time, please be patient with me!

Here is a oldie that’s just ridiculous….ENJOY!

Mariah Carey's acceptance speech....

Oh Mariah.  This is her acceptance speech at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards for her work in 'Precious.'  She wasn't a little drunk, the poor woman was in the bag!  I give her props for stepping up and coming clean, knowing that the media and social outlets would bombard her actions.  So for that my dear, I say bravo!  But it's still entertaining to watch.

It's Complicated, 5 stars!

I’ve been talking with friends about It’s Complicated for months and how great it was going to be. I couldn’t help but feel as if it was going to leave me with the same feeling as Something’s Gotta Give, a feeling of I just walked in on my parents but it’s okay because it’s funny. It’s Complicated is a great movie, good script, spectacular acting, just great. There are so many humorous parts that make you laugh out loud. My only gripe with this movie is that it does follow the premises of Something’s Got to Give. However, it is a modern film that I’m sure most divorced kids (or maybe even there parents), what if they did still love each other.  Go see this. 5 Apples.
